Woodstock– The Non-Motorised Transport (NMT) lane between Paarden Eiland and Woodstock has officially reopened after essential repair work.
This popular route, used by cyclists and pedestrians along the MyCiTi bus corridor, was temporarily closed due to cable theft and infrastructure vandalism. The City has since restored damaged footways and cleared overgrown hedges and foliage to improve accessibility and safety.
“It was very important for me to see this infrastructure restored,” said Rob Quintas, the City’s Mayco Member for Urban Mobility. “So many cyclists, pedestrians, and MyCiTi commuters rely on it to reach Woodstock and the City Centre.”
He said the upgrades would be welcomed by daily users, particularly cyclists commuting from Table View, Milnerton, and surrounding areas.
The Woodstock NMT corridor forms part of the City’s broader goal to encourage safer, sustainable, and accessible transport alternatives for all.
