Western Province Cricket Club marches to victory against Claremont

It was a thrilling match between Claremont Cricket Club and Western Province Cricket Club (WP) at the Walley Wilson Oval in a WPCA Premier League 1 clash on Saturday 18 November. The limited overs game saw Claremont set a target of 219 runs for WP.

Claremont, batting first, posted a total of 218 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Kai Greig played a stellar innings, scoring 94 runs of 113 balls, while Harlan Greig contributed a valuable 56 runs.

The Claremont side’s innings included 18 extras.

In response, WP chased down the target with 224 runs for the loss of just four wickets in 37,5 overs, winning the match by six wickets.

Derek Mitchell was the star for the home side, smashing 125 runs of 110 balls. Michael Levitt (50) and Givon Christian (21) also made notable contributions respectively.

The bowling efforts from both teams were commendable. For Claremont, Josh Breed and Harlan Greig claimed two wickets each. However, it was not enough to prevent WP from securing the victory.
