In a thrilling encounter between Victoria Cricket Club (VCC) and Edgemead Cricket Club, spectators witnessed a clash that kept them on the edge of their seats until the very last ball. The limited-overs match took place on Saturday 18 November at Victoria A field at the Chukker Road Sports Ground.

The match turned out to be filled with excitement and outstanding performances.

Victoria won the toss and elected to bat first. Their innings saw a total of 142 runs on the board, with notable contributions from Jordan Fourie, who scored a solid 46 runs and Warrick Rhoda, who played a crucial role with 26 runs.

The Edgemead bowlers, led by Luke Gibson and Ettienne Joubert, put up a commendable effort, restricting the Kenwin team and taking key wickets. The run rate hovered around 3,14 runs per over, setting the stage for an intriguing second innings.

In response, Edgemead faced a target of 143 runs after bowling out the home side. However, Victoria CC’s bowlers were determined to defend their total. The Edgemead batting lineup had its moments, but the Victoria bowlers, especially Warrick Rhoda, Robin Kriel, and Bernard Mukondiwa, showcased exceptional skill, taking crucial wickets and restricting the visitors.

The turning point of the match came as Rhoda bowled three sensational overs, claiming three wickets and securing victory for the home side. Edgemead fought valiantly, but their final total of 105 runs fell short by 37 runs.

Key performances came from Edgemead’s Aaron Wilke, who scored 20 runs, and Victoria’s bowlers, particularly Rhoda, who finished with impressive figures of 3,2 overs, 9 runs, and 3 wickets.
