UCT beat Tygerberg Cricket Club comfortably by seven wickets in a WP Division A match at the weekend at UCT A field.

Winning the toss, Tygerberg elected to bat first and managed to post a competitive total of 238/9 in their allotted 50 overs. However, UCT’s batting lineup chased down the target comfortably, finishing at 239/3 with 15 balls to spare.

For Tygerberg, Curtley Louw’s brilliant knock of 47 runs off 44 balls, supported by Lyle Rogers’ composed innings of 55 runs off 90 balls, propelled their team to a respectable total. However, their efforts were supplemented by valuable contributions from other batsmen like Ruben Minnaar (11), Clement Abrahams (11), and Bjorn Hollenbach (33).

In response, UCT’s top order displayed remarkable resilience with Abdul Malik (35) and Ketan Sharma (48) laying a solid foundation. Despite a couple of wickets falling at crucial junctures, Gabriel Gallmann-Finlay’s unbeaten 67 and Kenan le Roux’s blistering 60 not out ensured UCT’s comfortable victory.

Tygerberg CC’s bowling unit struggled to contain the UCT batsmen, with Ayabonga Ngondo (10-0-40-1) being the pick of the bowlers.

Ultimately, it was a dominant display by UCT, who showcased their batting prowess and chased down the target with confidence, securing a convincing win by seven wickets.
