To honour women and the role they play in society the Tsiba Business School in Woodstock recently held a Women’s Day with the theme: “The importance of women leadership, the future generations of female leadership and taking the lead”.
The event saw panel discussions by women who are using their influence to inspire the future female generation.
Speakers included Ruth Stoffberg from Prowess: Investment Operations Officer Alicia Davids, Chief Executive Officer of Asisa Academy Nangamso Koza (PGBA student and Comms Specialist) and Gia Whitehead, Co-Founder and Director for Tsiba.
Whitehead says the purpose of the event was to pay homage and inspire women.
“It’s to pay tribute to the generations of women who struggled, and the progress women have made.
“At Tsiba what we are trying to do is empower women to find their true purpose. We believe that with the correct investment in resources and time we can contribute towards creating the next generation of women’s leadership.”
Whitehead believes women bring value leadership skills to the table.
“I believe that women have a different way of leading and they bring that emotional intelligence, agile and intelligent thinkers to the workplace.
“It is important for us to all be seen as equal. For women to be role models for their families and for other women so that they can also build, work and earn a living.”
Whitehead says at Tsiba they aim to cultivate strong females for the employment world.
“Many women are still in poverty and trying to build families and it’s hard for them to get to work. And with the huge levels of unemployment in our country often it’s women who have to be the ones to give up so much.
“But if we can provide good education and influence and support to women then hopefully that can start changing for the next generation.”
Graham Moore, Executive Director for Sustainability at Tsiba, says: “Most of what Tsiba is has been selflessly given by women, but not only for women, but rather, for a just society and a just world.
“And so, in this Women’s Month we celebrate women for the joy and the justice they bring to our world and to each person embraced and held by women. Without women, joy and justice would not be, and the world would not hold the light, the laughter and the hope that it does.”
