- Three men have been arrested for the murder of a 6-year-old boy from Hanover Park.
- The boy died when caught in gang crossfire on Monday 16 October.
- Once charged, the men will appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court.
The Philippi police have arrested three men in connection with the murder of a 6-year-old boy who died when caught in gang crossfire on Monday 16 October.
The boy was in Surwood Road when hit in the chest around 17:30.
In the early hours of Thursday 19 October three suspects, aged 20, 21 and 30, were arrested in connection with the murder.
The investigation is ongoing. Once charged, the men will appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court.

“Philippi Police have subsequently increased visibility and intensified crime-prevention operations within identified crime hot-spot areas,” said Philippi police spokesperson Captain Lance Goliath, “which is yielding positive results as police clamp down on more criminals and their activities. The confiscation and seizures of firearms and ammunition from the hands of ruthless criminals are saving lives.”
