The body of a 15-year-old girl who drowned after slipping off a rock at Llandudno Beach on Friday 28 October, was recovered earlier today (Saturday).
The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) says the girl, who was with a group of friends, was swept away by rip currents.
Craig Lambinon, NSRI spokesperson, says following an extensive search by various emergency services yesterday, the search was called off and resumed early this morning.
Lambinon says an NSRI rescue craft patrolling about a kilometer offshore reported that her body was located floating on the water surface accompanied by a pod of dolphins.
“Police divers recovered the body of the teenager. She was brought to the NSRI Hout Bay rescue station. Family and friends have been briefed and they respectfully appeal for privacy in this time of mourning their sad loss,” he says.
