Tears animal rescue has received many donations including construction materials, bedding, beds, kennels

CAPE TOWN-An animal rescue in Sunnydale near Muizenberg is eternally grateful for the donations they received after their building was ravaged in a fire.

The Tears animal rescue appealed for assistance after their facility was damaged by a fire that left several dogs without kennels.

On Thursday morning 18 September, a fire was ignited on a property across the Tears Animal Rescue at 05:00, explained Tinka Shapiro, spokesperson for Tears.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this stage.

Tears is an animal rescue that helps to treat, rehabilitate and re-home hundreds of animals each year.

“We have had donations of all sorts, including construction materials, bedding, beds, kennels, as well as financial sponsorship for larger items. We even had a wendy house donated,” said Shapiro.

The animal rescue is still in need of cement, gravel, sand, cement blocks, lumber, fire retardant paint and extra kennels.

Any financial support would go towards purchasing these items.

Tears also held an adoption day at Noordhoek Farm Village on Saturday 27 September where they also held a donation drive.
