Feed the less fortunate, a non-profit organisation (NPO) based in Surrey Estate, is calling on locals to support their daily iftaar initiatives, catering to vulnerable and needy residents in various areas.

Shaqeel Dareis, organisation manager, says they service areas including Heinz Park, Samora Machel, Tafelsig and other surrounding informal settlements.

“We are doing daily iftaar for the month of Ramadan in different areas,” he says.

Their greatest need is support in monetary donations, as well as items toward their feeding initiative.

“We accept cash or kind like your fitraa, Fidiah, Lilla hi ta Allah, Sakaah and Sadakah,” he says.

“We also accept your pre-loved clothing that is in a good condition for distribution to the needy in our communities.”

Donations are accepted from all, he says.

Beyond their programme for the month of Ramadan, the organisation also runs a Street Children project where beneficiaries are fed, given a gift and clothing. “We will continue with our orphan and squatter camp outreach as well as our Street children project for the remainder of the year,” he says.

The organisation aims to uplift residents living in difficulty, to enable them a better life.
