As South Africa marks Women’s Day and Women’s Month in August, the Mustadafin Foundation is calling on locals to extend a helping hand to women.

The foundation is running a collection drive of sanitary items to make up care packs to be distributed across the metro.

“We will be doing distributing throughout the month of August, thus far we have received soap bars of 100 from an anonymous donor.

We would like to distribute these care packs to places of safety for women, such as the Saartjie Baartman Centre (in Manenberg) and also Hanover Park cottages, and then also in Tafelsig, Delft and Khayelitsha,” says Tasneem Bastra, media and marketing coordinator for the foundation.

They are calling on donations of soap, sanitary pads, toothpaste, lotion, deodorant or alternatively a cash donation toward the cause.

Drop offs can be done at the organisation’s head office in Antelope Street or its satelite offices at the corners of Boeschoten and Thornton roads, Bridgetown.

Collection for large quantities can be arranged.
