The Strandfontein Community Policing Forum (CPF) has honoured a local officer for her excellent service.
CPF chair Sandy Schuter Flowers paid tribute to Const Jocelyn Galant following praise for her from residents.
“The CPF has been inundated with emails, calls and WhatsApp messages about her front-of-house service when they come into the police station,” she said.
“This is for her conduct, the way she presents herself to the community and also going over and above what is expected of her.”
Galant has been especially excellent in dealing with domestic violence cases, Flowers said.
“A few victims have also made contact with the CPF to say that whenever Const Galant has come to their home there have been drastic changes and no further violence in the house, based on the advice she has given them when they follow through. There were a lot of glowing emails and we also awarded her a service excellence certificate for her community service.
“She is very passionate about what she does, very dedicated and motivated, and we hope her spirit in the charge office will influence the other officers in the charge office to exercise the same attitude she has in interacting with the community.”
Galant says she hopes to make a lasting difference.
“I started at the station in 2017, after serving as an intern the year before, and this is my eighth year. I joined the police because I am passionate about helping people. I want to see everything is sorted. I cannot see my neighbour, friend, sister or anyone suffering, so I strive to do all I can to solve the problem in the best way possible.”
“We as a community appreciate every police officer at the station,” Flowers said.
“There is hard work and late nights, which others don’t see yet we do.”
