“We are extremely proud of this year’s results, which reflect the unwavering dedication of both our (learners) and teachers,” said school principal Zafer Zor.

Despite the challenges posed by the ‘Covid year’ our learners rose above and beyond expectations, proving hard work, perseverance and the support of our incredible (teachers) can overcome any obstacle.

Among the standout achievers were three exceptional learners who defied all odds and excelled beyond measure.

Armien Manuel achieved 10 distinctions with an 88% aggregate across his subjects.

Asif Firfire earned eight distinctions with a remarkable 93% aggregate. He also achieved perfect marks in both Accounting (100%) and Business Studies (100%).

The class of 2024 continued with the good work to maintain the school’s excellent record.

Muzzamil Barday, with eight distinctions and an 88% aggregate, also scored a perfect 100% in Religion Studies. He is currently enrolled at Stellenbosch University’s School of Medicine with a view to specialising in cardiothoracic surgery.

“The formula that got me all these distinctions was discipline. Studying consistently, persevering every single day and never forgetting my religion. My religion motivated me the most along with my family.”

“Education is about more than just passing exams,” Zor pointed out, “it’s about preparing our (learners) for a bright future. Our motto, ‘Excellence in Education’, is not just words; it is our core belief, and it is evident in the results our (learners) have achieved this year.”

He said their success is a team effort, the dedication of the learners, passion of the staff and the commitment of the school in its entirety.

“The matric learners did very well. The teachers, they are dedicated to their job and the school facilities are excellent, so, I feel very fortunate about that. There was an impressive number of distinctions for last year’s class as well as a small group.

“I can’t give all the credit to the school; we take parents into consideration, we take the learners into consideration, we take teachers into consideration, we take the school itself in consideration. It’s a team effort.”

He said an investment is already made in the learners, and they are hoping to get first place and higher national ranking with the class of 2025.

Commerce teacher Angelique Norman has been with the past three matric classes. Between the various commerce subjects, 18 learners were enrolled.

She praised the dedication and critical thinking of the class of 2024, and has already encouraged the new class to bring real-life articles into the classroom.
