In a collaborative effort to address the widespread issue of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), Octotel and Cell C are proud to announce their partnership in support of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children.
This global campaign, which took place from November 25th to December 10th, embraces the theme, “30 Years of Advancing Collective Action to End Violence Against Women and Children.”
The partnership signifies their shared vision of a safer South Africa, aligning with the campaign’s call to eliminate violence and create hope.
For Octotel and Cell C, orange—the campaign’s official colour—serves as a powerful symbol of hope and change.
Both companies have orange at the core of their branding, making this partnership a natural alignment with their shared mission of creating positive societal impact.
“Connection is what defines us at Octotel—not just through technology but through meaningful engagement with our communities. This campaign is a call to action to stand together against violence and foster environments where women and children can thrive. This time of year, is particularly symbolic as it reminds us of the power of collective effort in driving lasting change,” said Carly Haydricks, CSR Team Lead at Octotel, when she reflected on the importance of the campaign.
Phashnie Naicker, Cell C Regional FTTX Coordinator, shared why Cell C is part of the initiative: “At Cell C, we believe in using our resources to uplift communities and bring about meaningful change. Partnering with Octotel for this campaign allows us to amplify the message that violence is never acceptable and that survivors deserve unwavering support. We are proud to stand in solidarity with those impacted by GBVF and to contribute to building a safer South Africa.”
The partnership places a spotlight on supporting survivors of violence through tangible actions. Essential items were collected for the Saartjie Baartman Centre for Women and Children at designated drop-off points in Cell C stores around Cape Town.
Siba Rolinyati, Social Auxiliary Worker at the Saartjie Baartman Centre for Women and Children, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support: “The partnership between Octotel and Cell C brings more than just material aid—it brings hope and strength to the women and children we serve. Knowing that companies of this stature are committed to our cause sends a powerful message: that they see us, they value us, and they stand with us. This kind of support is transformative, reminding survivors that they are not alone.”
With GBVF statistics remaining alarming—one woman or girl killed by a partner or family member every ten minutes globally—this campaign serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for change. Through partnerships like this, Octotel and Cell C demonstrate the power of collective action to challenge harmful norms and create a brighter future.
This campaign is more than a moment; it is a movement—a rallying cry for every company, every community, and every individual to take responsibility.
By leveraging their platforms and resources, Octotel and Cell C have shown that businesses have the power to drive meaningful change, to inspire hope where it is most needed, and to transform lives.
