A life-changing educational opportunity awaits ambitious young minds in the Cape Metro region.

The Vulamathuba Bursary Fund, a flagship initiative of Vulamathuba Empumelelo, is now accepting applications for its 2025 intake — offering a proven pathway to educational excellence and economic mobility for deserving learners.

Vulamathuba Empumelelo advances Communicare’s commitment to community development through targeted programmes serving communities in Cape Town.

They focus on three key areas: economic mobility through skills development, social cohesion through stronger tenant relationships, and essential support services for vulnerable community members. Through this holistic approach, they empower individuals and strengthen communities.

According to Noma-Afrika Nkwenkwe-Maxwele, the Vulamathuba Empumelelo manager, “The bursary fund aims to offer financial aid to Communicare tenants and neighbouring communities within the City of Cape Town Metro who have academic potential yet are economically marginalised and looking to pursue a qualification described as scarce and critical skills in South Africa.”

“Our mission is to empower talented individuals who have the drive to succeed but face economic barriers,” she adds.

This comprehensive bursary opens doors to quality education by covering registration costs, tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, and examination fees.

Available for both full-time and part-time undergraduate studies at recognised institutions, the fund demonstrates a particular commitment to supporting students at public colleges.

The programme seeks future leaders who embody excellence—enthusiastic team players with positive attitudes and creative problem-solving abilities who are ready to give back through volunteer work.

To ensure the fund reaches those who need it most, Vulamathuba focuses on households with annual gross incomes not exceeding R400 000, with special consideration given to candidates from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.

This approach underscores our commitment to fostering inclusive economic growth and diverse educational opportunities within our communities.

Applications for this transformative opportunity close on Friday 6 December 2024.

Successful candidates will join an esteemed network of past recipients who are actively shaping their futures while contributing to community development through innovative thinking and dedicated service.

“Your future begins with Vulamathuba.”
