This initiative underscores Octotel‘s dedication to corporate social responsibility and its commitment to fostering the next generation of industry leaders and professionals. 

In Cape Town, a city witnessing significant job growth, Octotel aims to sustain this momentum by investing in the emerging workforce.

The Mayor of Cape Town, Geordin Hill-Lewis, supports this initiative, recognising its alignment with the city’s economic growth and employment goals. 

Emma Thomas, Octotel‘s Head of HR, explains the programme’s foundation: “Our initiative targets youth unemployment, aligning with our core values of empowerment, innovation, and community involvement. Despite educational achievements, many young individuals face employment barriers. Our program aims to reduce these obstacles by equipping underprivileged youth with essential skills and opportunities, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to our industry and society.”

The programme, developed in collaboration with SETA (Sector Education and Training Authority), offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes theoretical knowledge, practical skills, direct experience, and mentorship.

Participants are placed in various company departments, receiving guidance from experienced professionals.

“Our learners have quickly adapted to their roles, demonstrating the program’s success in integrating them into our company culture and promoting their professional growth,” Thomas remarks.
