Seven injured in multi-vehicle collision on Kloof Nek Road, Cape Town

Seven people were injured following a multi-vehicle collision in Kloof Nek Road, Cape Town late on Thursday (26 September).


  • A cement truck lost control on Kloof Nek Road colliding with multiple vehicles.
  • Seven people sustained serious to mild injuries and was admitted to nearby hospitals.
  • The accident occurred around 18:30

Seven people were injured following a multi-vehicle collision in Kloof Nek Road, Cape Town late on Thursday (26 September).

Francine Higham, Ward 77 councillor, said a cement truck lost control coming down Kloof Nek Road and collided with “approximately 17 vehicles” before hitting the wall of a building and coming to a stop.

Western Cape Health Department spokesperson Byron la Hoe said:

Two patients were admitted to Groote Schuur Hospital and Chris Barnard Memorial Hospital respectively with serious injuries. Two patients admitted to New Somerset Hospital for mild injuries.

He said two other patients were also admitted to Groote Schuur Hospital for mild injuries.

Maxine Bezuidenhout, spokesperson for the City’s Traffic Services, said the accident occurred just after 18:30.

She added that Kloof Nek Road, between Upper Union and Burnside Road, reopened at 5:00 this morning.
