The Jones Safe House, situated near Kommetjie, received a much-needed makeover with a fresh coat of paint and new beds for the children’s bedrooms on Saturday 26 March.

Liquidity Services SA (LSI) decided to partner up with the safe house as part of their corporate social investment initiative.

The safe house, which is headed by Donovan and Bernadette Jones, provides a “haven for children” who had been abused, abandoned or neglected as well as to mothers, who were addicts or victims of abuse.

Adele Burger, from LSI, said they split up into teams to paint and refurnish the children’s bedrooms.

“LSI’S first project with the safe house for the year involved the staff of Liquidity Services SA painting the children’s bedrooms, as well as organising a fun-filled day at the home. Some of the staff painted and refurnished the children’s bedrooms, while the entertainment team kept the children busy.”

The Amdec Group, who partnered with LSI, donated new beds for the children’s rooms while LSI made sure every child had new bedding and Continental Floors donated carpet tiles for the rooms.

“The entertainment team made sure the kids enjoyed the variety of games and activities such as painting nails; playing soccer; and hunting for Easter eggs, dancing and doing Tik Toks.

“Even though, many of the kids at the Safe House come from extremely difficult and heart-breaking circumstances it was so difficult to tell because they are all so warm and loving. Their welcoming embraces, infectious smiles, joyful spirits, and loving affection touched everyone on the day.”
