CAPE TOWN-A man was arrested Wednesday night after Grassy Park police recovered an unlicensed 9mm pistol hidden inside a bathroom in Ottery, following a tip-off.
At 21:30, the officers received information about illegal firearms being kept at Horizon Court and immediately proceeded to investigate the report.
Upon arrival at Horizon Court, officers spoke to an occupant of the premises about the alleged firearm.
“The members enquired about the firearm, whereupon the occupant led them to the toilet area and pointed out the firearm that had been hidden there. The members recovered one 9mm pistol,” said police spokesperson Alridge Isaacs. The firearm was immediately seized and booked in as evidence for the pending court case.
The suspect was arrested on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court once formally charged.
