The Pinelands Neighbourhood Watch (NW) has once again demonstrated its commitment to community safety, with members receiving multiple accolades at the City’s annual Neighbourhood Watch Awards.
Held on Saturday 23 November, the awards recognised outstanding individuals and groups who play a vital role in keeping communities safe.
Among the winners was Pierre Fourie, who made a double impact by clinching the Organisational Excellence Award and sharing the Courage in Action Award. His dedication to operational excellence and bravery in addressing community safety challenges earned him widespread admiration.
Another standout from Pinelands was Heide Jean Ebrahim, who shared the title of Mobiliser of the Year with Saleem Orrie of Vanguard Welcome Estate NW. Ebrahim’s ability to galvanise support and strengthen local safety initiatives was instrumental in securing this recognition.
JP Smith, the Mayco member for safety and security, praised the contributions of all neighbourhood watch volunteers. “While we’ve given some awards, all the members of these versatile organisations are winners for doing their part and contributing to public safety. Their efforts do not go unnoticed, and we commend them all for their passion and dedication,” he said.
The City called for nominations earlier this year, with the public encouraged to highlight the exceptional performance of accredited Neighbourhood Watch (NW) members and groups. The adjudication panel was impressed by the depth of commitment and innovation showcased in the submissions.
The awards are a testament to the crucial role Pinelands NW plays in supporting law enforcement and fostering a stronger, safer community.
