The annual Valley Pre-primary Sandcastle Competition was back with a splash on Saturday 29 October as participants and spectators descended on Hout Bay beach.

About 80 teams participated in the various categories which included family, corporate, inter-school and Sonwabile-sponsored teams.

Organised by the school, the competition raises funds for the school’s Sonwabile Bursary Fund.

All proceeds from the competition are used to provide educational bursaries to enable children from the less privileged communities to attend the school and to fund therapeutic interventions.

The winners of the Best Team Spirit award were Treki/Barbe with their sandcastle called Kayak Jaws.

The winners of the Most Original award were Steve’s Nippers with their sandcastle called Swimmer in the Waves.
