People’s Post and TygerBurger journalists shine at awards for community media

People’s Post and TygerBurger reporters shone brightly once again at the annual AVBOB South Africa Forum of Community Journalists annual Excellence Awards hosted at the Birchwood Hotel & Conference Centre in Johannesburg on Friday 14 October.

Journalists from People’s Post and TygerBurger were recognised at the annual Avbob Forum of Community Journalist Excellence Awards at the Birchwood Hotel & Conference Centre in Johannesburg on Friday 14 October. People’s Post and TygerBurger reporters shone brightly once again at the annual AVBOB South Africa  Forum of Community Journalists annual Excellence Awards hosted at the Birchwood Hotel & Conference Centre in Johannesburg on Friday 14 October.

The big award of the night went to Samantha Lee-Jacobs who won the coveted Journalist of the Year award. Sam also walked away as the winner in the Human Interest category. Fellow People’s Post journalists Kaylynne Bantom and Nettalie Viljoen also finished in the top 5 finishes in the Human Interest category.

For TygerBurger, Carina Roux achieved third place in the Photography: News Category, while Desiree Rorke finished in the top 5 in the Hard News category. 

TygerBurger’s Brackenfell edition finished runner-up in the Newspaper of the Year category for Corporate-owned Free publications with more than 24 pages, while TygerBurger’s Bellville edition finished in third place in the category for Corporate-owned Free Newspapers with fewer than 24 pages.
