The newly elected Grassy Park Community Policing Forum (CPF) executive committee (Exco) has big plans to launch impactful projects and strengthen relationships within the community.
The Exco was elected at the CPF Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday 3 December.
Newly elected chair Nicole Jacobus, who previously held the position of deputy chair, says she is honoured to continue the community work she deeply values.
“As a 35-year-old woman with a strong background in community work, I am honoured to take on this new role,” she says. “Community service has always been second nature to me, and stepping into this position feels like a continuation of the work I deeply value.”
Jacobus adds that together, as the executive committee, they will strive to do their best.
“We acknowledge that meaningful progress takes time and mistakes may happen along the way but we are committed to learning and continuously improving.”
She hopes to see more youth involvement in future projects.
“Our goal is to launch impactful projects and strengthen relationships with our partners and stakeholders,” shares Jacobus. “At present, we are brainstorming and refining existing initiatives to ensure their success.”
The new Exco consists of nine members namely: deputy chair George Nelson, secretary Charmaine Arendse, treasurer Gabieba Nakadien, project co-ordinator Faizel Abrahams, public relations officer Howard Downes, and three additional members Mark Fisher, Yaseen Meyer and Yasier Gabier.
“We humbly ask the community to continue working alongside us because great achievements are only possible when we collaborate,” Jacobus comments. “Lastly, we would love to see more of our youth actively involved. Your energy, ideas and passion are vital to shaping the future of our community.”
She thanked residents for their support as well as the dedication of the outgoing Exco members.
“To the exiting Exco, thank you for your dedication and hard work; we are still looking forward to working with you in a different aspect.”
