Up to R85 000 was raised at a dinner for a non-profit organisation (NPO) in Masiphumelele, which will enable it to run its programmes.
Masicorp, entrepreneur Brent Lindeque and culinary chef Franck Dangereux came together to help put the fundraising event together at the NPO’s hall in Masiphumelele on Friday evening, 28 March, according to Masicorp spokesperson Megan Pringle.
The organisation provides education and skills development in Masiphumelele. It has been operating in the area for over 25 years, empowering children, supporting teachers and providing career guidance.
According to Pringle, Lindeque had dedicated his career to sharing uplifting South African stories, while Dangereux, known for sharing his innovative cuisine and warm hospitality at Noordhoek’s Foodbarn, had devoted himself to countless charitable initiatives over the years.
“That Friday evening these three forces for good came together for a one-of-a-kind fundraising dinner in support of Masicorp’s education programmes.
The evening included an exquisite four-course meal, crafted by Dangereux himself, with expertly paired wines.
“The funds raised from this event will help Masicorp provide access to quality education in this struggling community.
“An array of incredible auction prizes were on offer on the night, and Masicorp ended up raising an incredible R85 000 for its education programmes.”
One highlight of the evening was an ensemble piece played by three young Masi Violin violinists, Ayabonga Tshemese, Onke Mbopha and Milisa Ndlebe.
Masi Violin, a NPO that teaches the violin to youth in Masiphumelele, is based at Masicorp.
“This event has reminded us that even in difficult times South Africans come together to raise one another up, and education remains one of the most powerful tools we have to create a better world,” Pringle declared.
“As Brent often says, ‘good things are happening all around us; we just have to look for them.’ When passionate individuals join forces for a cause greater than themselves they have the power to inspire, uplift and change lives.”
