Manenberg police deploy extra measures for festive season safety with focused law enforcement operation

Anyone with information on crime is urged to call Manenberg police on 021 699 9400 or crime stop on 0860010111.

With the festive season officially upon us, Manenberg police has deployed extra measures to ensure safety in the precinct.

Station Commander Brig Jayce Naidoo deployed a cohort of officers for an integrated law enforcement operation in the precinct over the past long weekend.

The officers were deployed with a focused approach, starting with a roadblock on Duinefontein Road ensuring road safety and that commuters had clear and safe passage through the precinct.

“The focus was on gang hotspots, youth violence, gang initiation, drug dealing, illegal firearms and the threat of violent behaviour,” says police spokesperson Capt Ian Bennett.

Naidoo wants to ensure that every resident felt safe and that children had a safe space to play in.

The hope is to send a message that lawlessness will not be tolerated.

“The Integrated deployment for this long weekend saw 26 people between the ages of 22 and 59 being arrested and will be appearing in the various courts in due time,” says Bennett.

“Crime was at an all time low as the high density blue light patrols were increased and all force multipliers including Neighbourhood Watches and Community in Blue were on the ground.”

Naidoo has commended the dedicated team of police, anti-gang unit, Public Order Police, Metro Police, Law Enforcement, traffic officers, including all neighbourhood watches and Community in Blue, Community Policing Forum members and the overwhelming response from concerned community  for their active role in combating crime within the Manenberg Policing Precinct.
