Woodstock police are on the hunt for two gunmen who shot and killed a 37-year-old resident in Bromwell Street on Sunday 29 June.

According to police they received a complaint around 01:20. On their arrival they found the body of a man with fatal wounds.

WO Joseph Swartbooi, provincial spokesperson, said: “The victim was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel. The suspects, who fled the scene, are yet to be arrested.”

He said a murder case was under investigation, adding that the motive for the attack had yet to be determined.

Gary Adams, the Woodstock Community Policing Forum’s (CPF) public relations officer, said the community was saddened by the incident.

“The deceased was well-known in the area and was originally from Salt River. At this stage it cannot be confirmed whether it is gang-related. We hope the culprits will be brought to book.”
