CAPE TOWN-A man was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning after Grassy Park police discovered him in possession of an unregistered firearm during a routine patrol in Ottery.
The incident occurred around 05:30, when police officers observed the man carrying what appeared to be a firearm while patrolling the area.
“Upon noticing the police vehicle, the suspect attempted to flee on foot, prompting officers to give chase. Police successfully apprehended the man after a brief pursuit,” said police spokesperson Alridge Isaacs.
The firearm was found to be an unregistered Green Arm 9 mm pistol.
“The suspect was arrested and will appear in court once formally charged.”
