Having actually picked up the first microphone at Mitchell’s Plain Primary School, her career has blossomed. Proudly from Mitchell’s Plain, her highlights remain being able to perform in the area annually.
“(It took me) many years to take it very seriously and not as a hobby,” she says. “I have always been proud of where I am from and I have many highlights of my career… working with many great artists and collaborating with many artists.”
In planning this concert, the aim is to have a celebration. Backed by a live band and remixes by DJ Chello the crowd will be entertained at the show.
Having struggled with tik addiction, the concert celebrates and commemorates the journey to becoming sober and free from drugs.
“You can overcome these things. Look at me I used to be one of them. I came out of it and the only reason I came out of it was that I prayed. I am hoping that this is something we can do at my concert- pray for people like that. I know it is tough out there, not only in Mitchell’s Plain but all over.
Salome intends to have this concert annually and also help feature some young, upcoming artists from the area, something that she was unable to achieve due to timing this year.
Get into the festive season with a great vibe and even greater times. Somewhat of a spontaneous decision, the concert is actually years in the making.
“This concert was supposed to happen many years ago. I have done many festivals, fundraising events in Mitchell’s Plain,” she says. “I have done so many things in Mitchell’s Plain but I have never done my very own concert. No matter where I go, I will always say that I am proud to be from Mitchell’s Plain. There are many people scared to come to Mitchell’s Plain – the area has beautiful people, wonderful people and I am truly excited to do this show.”
The Show will take place on Friday 8 December at Rocklands High School. Tickets cost R120 per person and are available via webtickets. The show starts at 20:00.
