La Culla Safe Haven for Babies in Wynberg, a sanctuary dedicated to caring for abandoned babies, has been given a significant boost in the form of a year’s worth of baby toiletries.

The donation, which includes OnlyBio shampoo, bubble bath, and body wash, was made by The Great Africa Hair Company in partnership with the Clicks Helping Hand Trust.

Since opening its doors in 2020, La Culla, managed by the Maritz family, has cared for over 120 babies from the surrounding communities.

Currently, they look after ten babies, ranging from three weeks to nine months old, providing them with protection, safety and love.

“We’re pleased to partner with the Clicks Helping Hand Trust to support the excellent work that La Culla does in providing shelter for babies in need,” said Grant Heynes, Head of Strategic Development at Great Africa. “If you nurture a child from birth into young adulthood with the right environment, they stand the best chance of success in life, and then they too can contribute back into society.”

Gratitude

Janine Maritz, founder of La Culla, expressed deep gratitude for the support, noting the importance of donations like these in achieving the haven’s mission.

“We are very thankful for this donation of baby essentials, which will help us meet our chief objective of providing for abandoned babies and giving them the helping hand they need in life,” she said.

The Clicks Helping Hand Trust, which focuses on uplifting local communities, was proud to assist La Culla. “We are pleased to be able to collaborate on such a heartwarming initiative. By working together with the Great Africa Hair Company, we can really make a meaningful difference and help build a healthier future for all,” said Vikash Singh, Clicks Managing Executive.

La Culla relies heavily on donations to cover daily needs such as nappies, food, clothing, blankets, medication and toiletries. Anyone interested in supporting their cause can reach out to them at 066 399 9483.
