Strandfontein Pavillion played host to Junior Police Commissioners from Khayelitsha, Cape Town Central, Table View, Worcester, Overberg, West Coast and Cape Winelands and youth from the surrounding areas for a fun and informative day on the water.

The event, hosted by the Western Cape police, Strandfontein police and the local community policing forum (CPF), saw Alpha Lifesaving Club teach the group kayaking skills.

Brig Zuki Matumba, provincial police head of proactive policing services, says while this was the first of its kind initiative bringing youth leaders together, it was also the first of many.

This initiative forms part of the investment in youth as part of a solution to crime fighting.

The youth leaders are either district and provincial junior police commissioners or involved in the youth desks.
