October is senior citizens’ month, and some 400 seniors from greater Athlone were treated to a special free concert at the Joseph Stone Auditorium on Tuesday 1 October.

Capt Ian Bennett, spokesperson for Manenberg  Police Station, which assisted in arranging the event, said senior-awareness month had somehow got  lost by the wayside, and Manenberg police personnel wanted to address this and do something special for the seniors.

Shafiek Rajap, director of the Joseph Stone, said the venue treated seniors to monthly productions and movie days.
