Thanks to the overwhelming support from locals for the victims of a Kenwyn fire that left 19 people destitute.
Ward 60 councillor Mark Kleinschmidt would like to extend a helping hand to even more victims.
On Sunday 19 March, the fire destroyed the Queen Bess Road home, leaving the home owners and tenants destitute.
Kleinschmidt then called on locals to assist the victims and facilitated the drop-off of items at his office in Lansdowne.
Following a handover for these victims, there is still a large number of clothing items in varying sizes, says Kleinschmidt.
“Residents from Ward 60 donated (following the fire in Kenwyn),” says Kleinschmidt.
This is why he specifically calls on victims of other fires who may need clothing as well.
“(It was donated for the fire victims), hence the reason for donating to (other) fire victims. A substantial amount of goods was handed to the 19 fire victims.
“There are (still) a variety of sizes, mainly adult sizes for men and women,” he says.
“The clothing will be distributed according to their needs. Fire victims from the broader vicinity of the Cape Peninsula, especially, are encouraged to contact the Ward 60 Office.”
