The sport festival is described as hosting some of the best summer and winter sports athletes all at one festival, setting the stage for young talented athletes and teams to compete, and grow.

This year five learners from Heathfield High School competed against the Western Cape’s top athletes and each of them earned podium finishes on the day.

They are: Lezario Anthony Thobejane, Joyce Moyi, Spencer and Samuel Ngwalo and Codan du Toit.

High Jump Sensation

Track and feiled athlete Thobejane produced one of the standout performances of the entire festival in the Boys u-17 High Jump, soaring to 1,80 meters to secure first place with a commanding lead.

He secured a score of 670 points on the day.

Thobejane is now recognised as one of the most promising high jump prospects in the region, according to school principal, Nadia Anhuizen.

“When I step on the athletics field, my mindset is locked in on the main goal-the reason I am there. Every session has purpose and every drill brings me closer to becoming the athlete I can be. When it comes to training I focus on building both my upper body and lower body, creating balance, power and speed,” Thobejane said.

Sprint Excellence

Rising sprinter Joyce Moyi clocked an impressive 7,87 seconds in the Boys u-17 60m, securing third place among the fastest athletes in his division.
