Glenthorn A’s outplayed Tantasport in the Cape Town Softball Association’s League 1 Knockout competition, running out easy 12-3 winners at Turfhall Softball Stadium on Sunday 13 February.
A’s dominated the game with 14 hits which included two home runs from Courtney Stevens and Chaunees Goliath.
Codlin Korasie was the top performer with the bat recording a 3-4 statistic.
Roxanne Albertyn and Meghan Fillmore shared the pitching duties for Tanta, giving up a total of 14 hits from the 33 batters they faced.
Tiana Tobin on the pitching rubber for A’s gave up seven hits from the 26 batters she faced.
The only batting of note by Tanta was from Kathryn van Boom (2-3).
Khayelitsha Eagles had a no-show against Lavender Hill.
On Saturday 12 February Falcons stayed close on the heels of leaders, Lavender Hill, with an 8-2 victory over Tantasport.
Mercedes March (18), in her debut senior season, continued her great form with the bat, recording another super offensive display (2-3).
Equalling, the batting prowess of the youngster was stalwart, Bettina Blows, with the same statistic.
Kim Fortuin was, however, in perfect form with a 100% record (3-3).
Meghan Fillmore performed the pitching duties for Tanta, giving up 11 hits while her counterpart, Amy Minnies, surrendered four hits.
Lavender Hill moved further away from closest rivals, Kenfac Phillies, when they beat them 6-3 in League 3.
The Lavender Hill pitchers, Hayley Vorster and Chesternay, gave up a single hit to Zoe Isaacs who cleared the boundary in the last inning.
Strandfontein Mets, meanwhile, won their first game of the season when they beat St. Augustines 10-4.
