Terrosita Chee Mee from Colorado Park celebrated Garden Day on Sunday 9 October with 24 of her neighbours, ex-colleagues and friends at her home.

“I annually celebrate Garden Day and try to make it interesting for my guests. I decided to make it different each year, so that guests are not bored and there are new things to learn and see. I also show off my garden, share information, inspire others, share stories, relax and have fun when celebrating,” she says.

Her garden has a big collection of succulents, roses, clivias, astromelias, agapanthus, herbs, vygies, daisy bushes, bulbinella and biddens. She is the only gardener and her favourite place in her garden is a beautiful bench under the Coprosma bush.

“The surprise on Sunday was the performance of a belly dancer which my guests thoroughly enjoyed. I visited Turkey this year and was impressed with the culture. I attended a belly dancing show, interesting sites and food, including nuts, fruit and vegetables and decided a belly dancing show would be something special for the celebration,” Mee says.

On the menu was a selection of wine from Turkey as the Turkish have a big wine industry, cold drinks, snacks, nuts, seafood, wraps, Turkish delights, salads, dips and veggies. The guests also played games, joined in dancing and singing, told interesting stories and shared plant information.
