Days and nights have turned into an unbearable month as a Capricorn family hopes to see their two daughters after they vanished in Muizenberg on Friday 27 May.
Sisters Vanessa (18) and Kimberly Mubaiwa (22) disappeared after leaving Muizenberg Library on that fateful Friday afternoon.
Vanessa is a Grade-12 learner at Muizenberg High School. She was reportedly working on a school project with Kimberly on the day of their disappearance.
Their absence is becoming more painful for the family. They both would have celebrated their birthdays in June.
Douglas Mubaiwa, their father, says the family is not doing well.
“Vanessa is turning 19 on the 27th of June and Kimberly turned 22 on the 9th of June.”
Their mother, Lauren, is so sick with worry that she has stopped eating, says Mabuiwa.
“She is sick and not eating at all. We are still busy searching.”
The sisters were last seen leaving the library just before closing time.
“They wanted to do a project for school. We went to the library and the librarian said that they (the sisters) arrived, then left just before 14:00 because on Friday’s the library closes at 14:00.”
Muizenberg Police Station commander Col Vassie Naidoo said the investigation is continuing.
“A missing person’s enquiry has been opened at Muizenberg police and is currently under investigation. No new information has been received as yet and we are pleading with anyone who might have information regarding the girls’ whereabouts to contact detective Sergeant Zazini on 082 5222 797/ 021 787 900.”
