A foetus was found dumped on Sea Point Beach earlier today (Thursday 6 October).
Cpt Cyril Dicks, spokesperson for Sea Point Police Station, confirms the incident, saying police and emergency personnel were deployed to the scene near Milton Road.
Nicola Jowell, councillor for Ward 54, says staff from the City of Cape Town’s Cleansing Services discovered the fetus wrapped in a plastic bag.
Jowell says: “There is, of course, only speculation as to what has happened but the indication is that the mother had not carried the foetus to full term.”
