Capetonians came from far and wide to attend the Pick n Pay Wine and Food Festival held over the weekend at the Kenilworth Racecourse. And with over 40 estates from wine-producing regions across South Africa represented, who could blame them.
While all of the stalls were “well supported” by festivalgoers, the most popular by far was the sparkling wine section, a brand new addition to the event. Visitors flocked to the white-canopied sparkling wine stalls to enjoy a glass of bubbly. Another favourite on the day was the Pick n Pay Gourmet Food Lane which offered a selection of dishes and treats ranging from cheese platters to sushi. Live entertainment provided by local musicians added to the vibe as visitors made themselves comfortable in the shade of the trees to enjoy their food and wine.
The Pick n Pay Tasting Room, where expert winemakers and professional chefs presented wines paired with canapés, was another crowd pleaser. All-in-all, the festival’s return after a two-year hiatus was celebrated by all. Cheers!
