Youth Day, Friday 16 June, saw around 250 Tafelsig locals served with a warm cup of soup.

The Thomas Foundation, operating in Pyrenees Street, served the locals with the help of donations from their members, a neighbour and with the help of the Shoprite Soup Truck.

“The event was for the youth, but there was enough for the elderly people as well. The need in the community is great. We would like to help those in need of work and help the elderly people that don’t have breakfast in the morning,” says Marvin Thomas, founder of the foundation.

The Thomas Foundation, founded by Marvin Thomas fed 250 locals with the help of members, a neighbour and Shoprite.

Their needs include a large pot to cook in, along with gas and food supplies.

“If we can get food supplies once a month, then we can make a warm meal once a week for the community in need,” he says.

If you can assit the organisation with any donations, contact Marvin Thomas on 073 626 9919.
