Father, son die in shooting in Lavender Hill

An 11-year-old boy is one of two people killed in an alleged gang-related hit in Lavender Hill on Friday 2 September.

According to reliable sources, the victims were father and son.

In a statement, Steenberg police said the shooting occurred at a premises in Lavender Hill.

“Steenberg Police are investigating a double and attempted murder after a shooting incident on 2 September at about 14:00.”

According to police, the incident occurred at Shepherd Way in Lavender Hill. “A 42-year-old man and a 11-year-old boy (were) shot and fatally wounded, and another male injured.

“The injured victim was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Circumstances surrounding this shooting incident are under investigation. The motive can be gang related.”

On social media tributes have poured in for the 11-year-old boy who has since been identified as Jordan Brown.

Ellaam Daniels wrote: “So sad to hear this, may his soul rest in peace and my sincere condolences to his family and friends.”

While Melissa Kinnear commented that it was wrong for children to lose their lives.

“This is all types of wrong. Our children, our good community citizens are not safe. Lord, please bring peace to this cruel world. So sorry for your loss.”

Tracy-lee Jacobs wrote: “Incredibly sad. My heart goes out to you Shanay Brown. May God place contentment in your heart and mind.

“Know that you and your precious son Jordan are in our prayers.”

Liesel Golding commented that children were not safe in the community.

“I’m so angry that nothing is being done to protect our kids. This could have been my little boy.

“My condolences to the family. Can’t even imagine how you must be feeling.”

Honey Paulsen wrote that it was sad to lose someone so young.

“So sad, so young and a talented boy taken away. They are our future. My condolences to his parents and family and friends.”

Desiree Crouch commented: “This is so sad to see our young future generation dying . My sincere condolences to the family.”
