The 20th edition of the Cape Town International Boat Show, known as boatica, Cape Town officially kicked off today at the V&A Waterfront. 

The event will continue until Sunday 30 October and will feature a display of some of South Africa’s finest boating and yachting brands, with luxury yachts and catamarans on display as well as some pre-owned options.

James Vos, City’s Mayco member for economic growth, says 120 companies from various water sporting industries will be exhibiting this weekend.

“The boat building industry in Cape Town contributes R4. 2 billion per annum to Cape Town’s economy,” he says.

The experiential programme will include twice daily test drive sessions and interactive displays which include exclusive product launches and demonstrations.

Kathryn Frew, boatica director, says: “This is the first face-to-face event in two years. As organisers, we are excited about finally being able to interact with our visitors in the magnificent setting that the V&A Waterfront provides. We’ve catered for a diverse audience of boating enthusiasts and ensured there is something for everyone at this years’ show.”
