Coloured stickers were hardly placed in the shadows of trees or play equipment at Hampstead Park in Harfield Village before little hands snapped them up and stuck them on their colour-coded cards. Once full, these cards were exchanged for… (cue drumroll here) Easter eggs!
Measuring by all the smiles on the faces of the children participating in the Easter Egg Hunt held at the park on Saturday 17 April, the community event – organised by the Friends of Harfield Parks and sponsored by Norgarb Properties – was a huge success.
Ruth McNerney, a member of the Friends, says their reason for organising the event was twofold: “Firstly, to bring the community together and have some fun, but also to raise funds for park maintenance as we would like to restore the irrigation system to have water available during the dry summer.”
