The Paul and Humile Mashatile Foundation, led by Humile Mashatile, wife of South Africa’s Deputy President Paul Mashatile, marked the end of Women’s Month with an act of generosity by providing aid to the community of Hangberg.

The foundation donated essential items, including food parcels, sail sheets and blankets, to assist those facing hardship.“This visit to Hangberg is not only a gesture of solidarity but also a call to action,” said Humile. “We recognise the untapped potential within this community, and by supporting Hangberg, we aim to highlight the importance of investing in local communities to boost living conditions, promote economic development and support sustainable growth.”

Hangberg, a community nestled between Hout Bay Harbour and The Sentinel peak, has endured significant challenges over the years, including high poverty and unemployment rates.

These difficulties, compounded by the ongoing socio-economic issues, have made daily life a struggle for many residents.

Despite these adversities, Hangberg remains a vibrant community with historical roots and a strong connection to Cape Town’s fishing industry.

The foundation’s donation provides immediate relief to those in need but also serves as a broader call to action. “We encourage all residents, as well as potential investors, to join us in supporting the people of Hangberg,” urged Humile. “Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in Hangberg and ensure that the community’s potential is realised for generations to come.”

In addition to the donation, the foundation has identified various community programmes that offer hope for a brighter future. These include annual fishing events, sports initiatives, and economic development projects aimed at empowering the community. By supporting these initiatives, the foundation seeks to help to create sustainable growth and improve living conditions.

Through collective action, the foundation believes that lasting change is possible and that a brighter future can be built for all.
