Hamediehs of Athlone is still unbeaten in Western Province Rugby Union’s Promotion League after beating Violets by 22-16 on their home ground on Saturday 10 September.
As things stand with two matches remaining, it is unclear who will be crowned as the league’s champion on Saturday 8 October.
Currently, Van der Stel-Evergreens (VDE) from Stellenbosch top the table and lead by two points, but will finish their campaign when they travel to Atlantis.
VDE beat their neighbours Blakes by 21-10 at home and will watch the rest of the competition from the sidelines after their game against Atlantis this Saturday.
Masiphumelele can throw a spanner into the works in determining who will be the final top four teams in the competition. They have a chance to sneak through to the back door and secure a top four place if any of the current top three stumble in the next two weeks.
They still have to play two more games: Northerns this week at home and Atlantis away next week. Masi has 14 points on the log and if they manage to win their remaining matches with a bonus point they will finish on 24 points.
Lansdowne-based clubs Blakes and Violets both have 19 points on the log, but Blakes have played one game less, and like VDE, Violets will be in action in their final match against Lagunya at home on Saturday.
Blakes, however, have two tough games on the trot before their campaign ends, first against Hamediehs in Athlone and then on Saturday 1 October against Sir Lowrians in Stellenbosch.
No matches are scheduled for Saturday 24 September due to the Test match between the Springboks and Argentina in Durban.
Meanwhile, the semi-finals of the Super League A, B and C will commence on Saturday, with all matches slated to be played at City Park.
Clubs are unhappy about the centralisation of the fixtures at City Park as they were hoping to benefit from the gate-takings at their respective home grounds which would have been banked for next year’s preseason.
