A group of 45 children with or affected by disabilities joined the annual Cape Town Association for the Physically Disabled’s Christmas fun day at Athlone Swimming Pool on Thursday 30 November.

The organisation, which is based in Bridgetown, works with children with physical and intellectual disabilities across the Cape.

The children invited to the event either have a disability, or are children of parents with a disability.

The children are from the areas where social workers operate, including Mitchell’s Plain, Lavender Hill, Athlone, Manenberg, Dunoon, Philippi, Nyanga, Langa and Samora Machel.

The event treats children with and affected by disabilities.

Lawn games were arranged by the City of Cape Town.

Despite the heat, children enjoyed the day.

Thanks to generous donations from residents, organisations and businesses, their Christmas Joy Box Project was successful and aside from breakfast and lunch, the children were also all given a gift.

A fibre provider donated juices and gazebos.
