A non-profit school in Ottery is encouraging learners to submit their applications to enrol at its high school, which is currently under construction and set to open for the 2026 academic year.

Previously, People’s Post reported that Christel House South Africa recently welcomed a new Hino 35-seater school bus, which will help provide more transport access for disadvantaged learners (“Christel House receives R1.5 million school bus donation,” 29 April).

Christel House South Africa is a no-fee, non-profit school that provides character-based and career-focused education to learners from Grade RR through to five years post-matric, supporting them for a total of 19 years.

To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet specific criteria, including demonstrating financial need, residing in designated areas, and meeting age requirements, according to spokesperson Megan Losper. “To be eligible for admission applicants must meet specific criteria, including demonstrating financial need, residing in designated areas and meeting age requirements. The Grade 8 application deadline closes on Friday 30 May this year.”

Christel House SA reported that 95% of its alumni were either working, studying or engaged in both. The school also boasted a 98%-average matric pass rate over the past five years.

Construction of a new high school is currently underway on the Christel House Campus as part of the school’s Replication Programme, which will see the organisation double its impact between 2025 and 2027, adding 300 learners to its current 906 learner population.

Eugenia Dlodlo-Sibanda, Dean of Student Development at Christel House SA, said: “Opening applications for Grade 8 is an incredible opportunity for parents and guardians living in under-resourced communities to access academic and holistic life support for their children that will ultimately change the trajectory of their lives. We are proud to offer a pathway that goes beyond just academics; providing a future full of possibilities.”
