A 47-year-old man who was airlifted to hospital following a crash along Chapman’s Peak Drive has died.

Fish Hoek police confirmed that a case of reckless and negligent driving was initially registered following the accident. The accident occurred at about 09:00 on Saturday 25 January.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said the driver sustained serious injuries. Moreover, the driver was airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

“He later succumbed to his injuries in hospital,” Van Wyk said.

The case has since been changed to culpable homicide for further investigation.

“The circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation. The investigation continues,” Van Wyk said.
