Cape Town police are investigating an inquest following the death of a 23-year-old University of Cape Town (UCT) student on Saturday 26 July.

According to police, the student was found in his room at an off-campus residence in Victoria Road, Salt River.

Provincial police spokesperson, Capt FC van Wyk said: “A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.”

Elijah Moholola, spokesperson for the university, said they are supporting the family.

“The family has requested privacy during this difficult time. UCT will issue formal communication via the university’s channels in due course, once all the relevant processes have unfolded,” he said.
