Camps Bay High School learners spread some Christmas cheer by donating much-needed items to the Santa Shoebox Project.

The school’s Interact Society, known for its dedication to community service, brought the enthusiasm and generosity of staff, learners and parents.

This year’s efforts yielded an outstanding result, with 103 thoughtfully-filled Santa Shoeboxes.

Each box is filled with essentials, stationery, clothing, sweets and toys, and these boxes are destined to make a significant impact in the lives of less fortunate children in the Santa Shoebox network of organisations.

The Santa Shoebox Project, a South African initiative, aims to provide gifts and necessities to children who often experience limited joy during the holiday season.

Each year, the project collects and distributes personalised gifts of essential items and treats to over 1 000 recipient facilities, through more than 60 satellites around South Africa and Namibia.

For the past 17 years, the organisation has reached over 1 152 587 children.

Kirsten Mobsby, Head of Service at the school, said the school’s involvement in this initiative exemplified the power of collective effort in creating positive change and fostering a spirit of giving.

She said it is proud and will continue its commitment to the project.

“It’s heartening to see our school community come together each year to make a difference in the lives of these children.

“The 103 boxes we’ve added this year reflect the compassion and generosity that defines Camps Bay High School.”

Mobsby said as the holiday season approached Camps Bay High School continued to set an inspiring example of how a school community can make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.

“The 103 Santa Shoeboxes are not just gifts; they are symbols of compassion, kindness, and the true spirit of Christmas that Camps Bay High School embodies.”
