Athlone martial artists take 27 golds at national championships

Six mature martial artists, between the ages of 50 and 70, of Xaxi Xiung Kung-fu and Taichi school in Athlone, have taken home a large haul of medals from the South African Wushu Championship in Johannesburg on Saturday 11 November.

Six mature martial artists, between the ages of 50 and 70, of Xaxi Xiung Kung-fu and Taichi school in Athlone, have taken home a large haul of medals from the South African Wushu Championship in Johannesburg on Saturday 11 November.

Sifo Xia Ke Xiong (53), Clotilda Villers (52), Zoelpha Carr (53) Bruno Villers (63), Yacek Stulinski (67) and Fatima Barron (68) participated with great success.

Sifo Xiong Se Chang, who is their instructor received five gold medals, Barron received three gold medals, Clotilda five, Bruno four, Stulinski five and Carr another four, bringing the group total to 27 medals.

The competition was hosted by the South African Wushu Federation, the official governing body for all Chinese Martial Arts in South Africa.
