A group of animal activists from Ottery tackled a 5 km walk to help raise funds to assist the pets at their facility.
The Animal Rescue Organisation (ARO) team of 25 members and their families took part in this year’s Outsurance Gun Run pet walk on Saturday 13 September.
This year’s event took place at Fritz Sonnenberg Road, Green Point with the ARO team competing in the 5 km Pet Walk category.
The ARO runners took part to raise funds for their brand-new mobile clinic, said head of fundraising, Lindsey Concer.
“Our #TeamARO staff team – joined by our spokesdog, Epic – recently participated in the 5km Gun Run walk to raise funds for our Mobile 3 Vet Clinic campaign. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we raised R11 750 – an incredible contribution that brings us even closer to putting this much-needed clinic on the road,” Concer said.
The new mobile clinic will offer affordable services for sickly animals which include: vaccinations, parasite treatment, basic consultations, and sterilisation referrals. The clinic will serve the following areas: Jim se Bos, Lekkerwater, Egoli, Phumlani, Siqalo, and most recently, Smallville.
The animal rescue organisation has been appealing for funds to help cover their costs to build another mobile clinic since July. Their current fundraising target sits at around R1 million.
